Zombie Killer CYOA.ver.2
HOTD CYOA
Valmar’s CYOA
I stared at the document before me a bit dumbfounded. I knew I filled out the CYOA before going to sleep, but I didn’t really expect to get yeeted into a Jumpchain based on it, not that I was complaining.
I knew it wasn’t a dream. I have had enough lucid dreams to be able to tell the difference. But a small part of me was a bit disappointed. After all, there were so many other CYOA’s that I had filled out that would have made me an unstoppable force, overpowered in every way. But I could hardly complain, beggars can’t be choosers. I was just happy to have the opportunity at all, even if it was for a zombie world I knew next to nothing about.
It seemed as though I wasn’t locked in yet to the choices that I had made, there was still room for me to make decisions, since I had only filled out the beginning portion of this one.
Still, I was stuck with the initial choices, but I probably would have chosen the same things anyways. Average looks, adult male, Masculine and Aristocratic Arctype, drop in, supplemented with zombie killer CYOA, Average Height, Fit.
Everything beyond that, I was still able to make changes. Those options were identical for both CYOAs, as that was the requirement to use it as a supplement. Every World option was chosen, so the world would be much more dangerous than it otherwise would be, but that also gave me more points to spend. Honestly I felt a but guilty, it would make a nightmare world into even more of a nightmare. I wasn’t sure if anybody would be able to survive that would have before, but the trigger was already pulled, so there is nothing I could do about that now. But then again, I had no idea how canon went, it could be that the world was doomed from the start anyways.
Looking at the Zombiecyoa, I had to confirm the initial stats. Everything was 5, the average of human ability, but I had 2 free points to assign. Without overthinking it, I went with my original plan, and put both points into stamina. With endless stamina, I would be able to train every other stat far quicker. At least that is the theory. Of course I would need to survive long enough to improve, but with the other sections I shouldn’t have any issues there. I just had to give myself enough of an advantage in the beginning. I took a moment to review each section.
Your stats determine how well your body performs. These can raise or lower according to your own efforts in training and your physical training effeciency and speed is thrice that of a natural human until you max at 10.
Strength determines how much physical force your body can exert. At max level you will be able to perform near superhuman feats of strength, lifting weights usually reserved for powerlifters with relative ease.
Endurance determines how much damage your body can endure without bruising, shutting down or otherwise suffering. It also factors in how quickly you recover from any injury or sickness. At max level you will be able to shrug off impacts most would crumble from and continue to power on even with what should be debilitating injuries.
Stamina determines how long you can perform at maximum output without tiring. At max level you will be able to push yourself to your limits for near inhuman amounts of time without rest or exhaustion.
Agility determines both your physical speed and your dexterity. It will improve your speed, your reaction time, and your overall balance and body control. At max level you will be able of record-breaking bursts of sprint speed and able to physically react at speeds that many would consider impossible.
Intelligence determines your clarity of mind and ability to comprehend and retain information and knowledge. At max level you will have perfect recall and be a savant in one academic field, able to grasp even complicated concepts with relative ease, though you will still have to manually learn.
Perception determines your ability to notice details others would miss and your overall awareness and intuition. This can often be misconceived as luck. At max level you will have an almost supernatural danger-sense, able to subconsciously sense danger a few moments before it occurs.

Text
After reviewing the things available, and the limited points, I figured I should swap over to the other document before I make any more decisions.
I had already chosen drop-in, which gives me an additional 2 points for that document.
My starting location:
Fujimi Academy is the high school where Takashi Komuro, Saeko Busujima, Rei Miyamoto, Saya Takagi, and Kohta Hirano are students. It is the location Takashi and the rest of the main group, other than Alice Maresato, were during the initial outbreak. It is a boarding school, so Takashi and the others were living there at the time of the outbreak.
Since judging by the title the main characters would likely be present there.
Many of the boons for this document were grayed out because of the other supplement, but there were still things I could choose from. There were a few that would make surviving much more manageable.
x 2
Your stomach has an incredible level of resilience against food poisoning from eating undercooked or outdated food and is highly efficient in getting the most out of everything you eat in a way that ensures you can eat smaller portions yet remain healthy.
As a side-benefit you can also enjoy eating more unhealthy and fatty foods without worrying about gaining weight or suffering health concerns.
x 2
Your body's reaction speed is at the pinnacle of what is humanly possible. This allows you to physically react to situations with great swiftness.
This won't necessarily make you any more accurate or dexterous, but it does mean the time it takes for your body to react to stimuli is lesser than most.
x 2
Your senses are incredibly honed and refined, allowing you to become aware of your surroundings to a degree some would consider unnatural.
From the faintest breath to the slightest shifting of fabric, if it is within your range you will notice it.
This hyperawareness will never overwhelm or impede you.
x 2
You will have an innate sense of danger that borders on the line of precognition.
You will instinctively detect danger coming your way as well as from what direction moments before it occurs with a brief flash of hyper-aware focus. This has a "cooldown" time of five minutes.
x 2
You have an extensive knowledge of firearms. From modern to antique, you can easily identify most firearms and know how to maintain them.
This knowledge is strictly academic, however, as you have no experience firing these weapons.
x 2
This Boon rewards you with 5 extra Freebies to spend in the Gear section.
x 2
Your willpower is incredibly firm and unwavering, allowing you to maintain focus in even the most hectic and stressful situations and not falter under pressure.
A fringe benefit of this includes a higher pain tolerance and patience as long as you are determined to continue towards your goal.
After making those selections, I was already down to my last 2 points for this document. I would need to take drawbacks to get more.. Which I planned to do.
Drawbacks reward you extra points to spend on your build at the cost of enduring a setback or other handicap to add to your challenge.
Gain:
Events and people around you have an unusual tendency to become lewd. From bizarre accidents leading to disrobing or people inadvertently positioning themselves suggestively, it can often feel like you're in the middle of a play that only you notice. This can also mean you often find yourself accidentally exposed or suffering wardrobe malfunctions.
Gain:
x 2
Your insertion into the world will place you in a much more dangerous situation. You'll have five minutes of momentary safety before things take a turn for the worse.
Gain:
x 2
You will lose all canonical knowledge you may have about the series. You will remember that it is an anime series about zombies, but that is it. You do remember filling this CYOA, though the importance of your choices might be unclear since you won't remember the significance.
Gain:
x 2
"I just can't stand this guy!" Whenever you encounter a new group of people, chances are there will be someone there who will visibly and vocally dislike you. Maybe they're just having a stressful day, maybe your face reminds them of a bitter memory, or maybe they just don't like you. Fortunately, these are generally inconsequential individuals and this is more an annoyance than an actual threat.
Gain:
x 2
That escalated quickly. As if the undead were not enough threat, now the rate for which civilization is falling apart into violence is heightened. Expect to see more violence, cruelty and savagery from surviving gangs taking advantage of the outbreak.
Gain:
x 2
Your life is bound to be... interesting. You can expect to encounter situations occurring in your life or around you that could have been a plot piece from a television series on at least a monthly basis. Not all these events will be dangerous, but you will occasionally find yourself dragged into the drama in some manne
Gain:
x 3
The undead in HOTD are uniquely weak in that they can only detect by sound and are essentially blind. Now, that weakness is removed. Zombies can detect the living by sight, sound, scent and movement.
Variant zombies will now become even more dangerous as a baseline standard, having heightened senses and feral behavior.
Sprinters
Gain:
x 4
Zombies are no longer necessarily shambling undead. Those who are recently turned or "fresh" are now capable of running, although their sense of navigation is greatly limited due to poor eyesight.
Variant zombies will now become faster as a baseline standard, even capable of jumping and climbing.
Variants
Gain:
x 7 [ Bonus ]
Among the undead are a select few variants that progressively grow stronger the longer they survive and the more they consume. This can result in them being faster, more feral and grow mutations to be more lethal.
These variants will also have slightly higher intelligence than their mindless brethren, as well as greater senses to detect the living.
After making all those arguably very stupid decisions to select all those drawbacks, I now had 27 points to work with. Next, I needed to select some starting talents, before I move on to my gear.
There are some born naturally gifted in certain areas. Having a talent will not supplant learning and experience, but it will enable you to absorb relevant teachings far easier and quicker than most.
If you choose Insert as your Insertion Method, your starting scenario can grant you a degree of knowledge and skill in the chosen Talents where applicable to fit in your character's history.

You have a natural talent for engineering and know how to make small repairs and maintain a large assortment of mechanical devices from engines, automobiles or factory machines.

You have a natural knack for going unseen. From measuring distance, predicting movements, being observant of a target's line of sight to being able to walk with the least noise.

You have a natural talent for navigating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing.
This comes with an innately attuned sense of balance and the ability to quickly deduce relative range and angles for best efficiency, as well as knowing how to best land to disperse your momentum and take minimum damage.

You have a talent for identifying, maintaining, handling and accurately firing handguns such as pistols and revolvers.
While you may still need to practice hitting moving targets, hitting stationary targets will be a simple feat.

You have a talent for identifying, maintaining, handling and accurately firing rifles from bolt action to fully automatic. While you may still need to practice hitting moving targets, hitting stationary targets will be a simple feat.

You have a natural talent and keen eyesight for using firearms at great distances. This makes you a capable of long-shooter or sniper. So long as the target is in range of your bullet, chances are you can hit it.
While you may still need to practice hitting moving targets, hitting stationary targets will be an easy feat.
In the end, I still spent points on one talent, just to upgrade my talent for shooting. I wanted to also get talent for close combat, but I wanted to make my other purchases before making a decision there. Obviously my goal is to maximize the free stuff I can get, as well as discounts.
When applicable you will begin your journey with the selected items and gear chosen here on your person. Should that not be feasible in your starting circumstances, then they will be placed in a safe place near your starting location that you will be able to easily access and is guaranteed to be left undiscovered and undisturbed by others. You can opt to have other gear stashed in this way as well if you do not wish to immediately have it on your person. If you've chosen Insert as your Insertion Method, you can incorporate your gear's existence to be explained in your character's history to further excuse your possession of said gear.
Weapons you purchase here will require no maintenance and always perform at optimum efficiency. Should you ever lose them, you will find them beside you the next time you wake up in bed, so long as you are not incarcerated or they weren't sold, traded or given away by you. If they take any damage they will automatically restore themselves after three days. They will also come with at least one commonly purchasable box of ammunition. Note: While you can choose your desired make, model and design of relevant weapons, it has to be one that would feasibly exist within the setting.

x 2 [ Discount ]

Vehicles
The vehicle you choose here can be of any make, model and color you prefer so long as it is feasibly available. As a standard benefit of this cyoa, any vehicle chosen here is guaranteed protected from any EMP blast.

x 3
A high-quality, well-maintained camper RV. Comes equipped with all your standard fare for RVs, such as a cooking space, restroom and mattress. Everything you need for a home on wheels. The appliances onboard, bathroom and shower will all function magically without need of you worrying about fueling or managing them. The shower can be used 30 minutes a day and any water that leaves the room will vanish.

Your vehicle is now incredibly fuel efficient, able to travel for a significantly higher number of miles before needing to refuel. Does not benefit "Solar Powered" modification.

Your vehicle is now able to power itself with solar energy. However, when driving in this mode your speed is halved and travel time is only eight hours.

Your vehicle has a built-in GPS fixture. It, like the vehicle, is protected against EMPs and so long as there is an operable satellite in space it's GPS functions will continue to work.

Your vehicle is subtly enchanted to be unusually quiet, even when revved up.

Attached to the front of your vehicle is an incredibly sturdy V-Plow. This allows you to forcibly push through congested highways or a horde of zombies.

The windows and lights of your vehicle are further protected with mounted guard rails. This may impede your visual range somewhat when driving.
Supplies
Purchased supplies will be incredibly resilient against damage and function properly in even the worst of conditions. Should you ever lose them, you will find them beside you the next time you wake up in bed or reasonably close by, so long as you are not incarcerated or they weren't sold, traded or given away by you. Should they take any damage they will automatically restore themselves after three days. Any item that has a supernatural or otherwise unusual function will be subtly protected by the CYOA to not draw unwanted attention unless you purposely show it off. You can also, to a degree, determine the general aesthetics of relevant gear you select to fit your preference.

A rugged travel canteen that has been enchanted to hold x10 its size and keep liquids either chilled or warm depending on intent. Any water drunk from this will be purified of any toxicity and filth.

A small glass jar filled with 15 special pills. One of these pills will grant anyone complete immunity to the zombie infection and cure them if they were recently infected but have yet to succumb and turn. These are fiat-backed by the cyoa and cannot be replicated with scientific means.

Your gun suppressors now are enchanted to act more akin to what is typically depicted in movies. This means shots fired with them attached are going to be more whisper-quiet compared to a real suppressor.

This enchanted munitions box comes filled with ammunition for your chosen firearms. Restocks last stored ammo once a week so long as the previous ammo stored in it is used up. The true magic of this munitions box, however, is that it can convert any ammunition placed inside it to a caliber your weapon can use, so long as its made of the same material and was otherwise viable ammo itself. Cannot turn bullets into grenades or vice-versa. Only works on calibers that match purchased firearms from this CYOA.

A comfortable knapsack that is easily worn on the back. It is enchanted to hold 10x the amount its size would otherwise suggest, without any additional weight. Objects stored inside must fit through the lip of the bag. Any perishables stored within will slow degradation by half. Anyone other than yourself will only find an empty backpack should they look into it unless you allow it.

A well-fitted set of clothes. You can get them in any appearance or style you prefer but will default to one that most match the style appropriate to your starting circumstances. Regardless of how ornate or plain you choose these clothes to be, the most notable aspect of them is that they are enchanted to be highly resistant to dirt, easy to clean and remain comfortable and smelling fresh. Underclothes and shoes included. Once a day you can choose to change the design of these clothes. If you include a headpiece, such as a hat, it will remain adhered to you even during strenuous movements that would have otherwise caused it to be flown off, unless you wish it not to.

A sturdy and comfortable set of traveling boots. Don't be fooled by their appearance, with these you will never have to worry about a sprained ankle or sore feet ever again. With these you could travel by foot until your legs feel like lead weights but your feet will still feel fresh and comfortable. They dry out extremely quickly if ever made wet so they never feel soggy and you also won't ever have to deal with getting sand or dirt in your boot ever again.

A handy tactical military vest of your own preference for design. Convenient for storing ammo magazines and other handy accessories. Comes wilt matching holsters for your weapons, a canteen, a pocket knife, a multitool and binoculars. Also offers a degree of protection from small-arms fire.

A comfortable and relatively form-fitting set of padded armor. It is enchanted to keep the wearer reasonably cool and unburdened by wearing it with minimum inconvenience. Offers a full range of coverage for protection against zombie bites, although this defense can be overwhelmed if swarmed. Also offers a higher degree of protection from small-arms fire.

An extremely durable smartphone that can charge itself quickly with just a few hours of sunlight.
The most magical aspect of this device, however, is that it is fiat-protected against EMPs and currently holds all your favorite music and movies, a local map that is accurate for up to the date of your arrival, and even a handful of games.

A set of enchanted earrings that will be in any style you prefer and can be comfortably worn and adhered to the ears with magical ease. These earrings provide sexual-based enchantments. Lower refractory period, longer lasting stamina, pregnancy control, immunity to sexual diseases, magically induced cleanliness and scent. This pregnancy control allows you to control your fertility, and can also bless the wearer, if applicable, with a guaranteed safe and healthy pregnancy with no complications and prevent menstruation.
I hesitated on that last part, but if I had female team members, then it would become invaluable for them to be able to control their menstrual cycle, as there was a chance that the blood could draw zombies if left uncontrolled. Nothing said that I had to use it myself. The other things it can do are fringe benefits, but not the deciding factor.
I still had 12 points left.
Weaponry
Weapons you purchase here will require no maintenance and always perform at optimum efficiency. Should you ever lose them, you will find them beside you the next time you wake up in bed, so long as you are not incarcerated or they weren't sold, traded or given away by you. Should they take any damage they will automatically restore themselves after three days. Note: While you can choose your desired design and style of relevant weapons, it has to be one that would feasibly exist within the setting.

An expertly crafted steel blade. It is enchanted to retain its edge and needs no maintenance. It is sharp and durable enough to reliably be used against the undead.

An expertly crafted steel axe. It is enchanted to retain its edge and needs no maintenance. It is sharp and durable enough to reliably be used against the undead.

An finely crafted modern crossbow with optional scope. It is both lighter, stronger, more durable and can outrange any other known crossbow of similar material. Comes with a full quiver.

An exquisite and rare bow. It is both lighter, stronger, more durable and can outrange any other known bow of similar material. Comes with a full quiver.

An expertly crafted and study spear with a remarkably sharp edge. It is enchanted to retain in pristine condition and sharpness with little maintenance. You can decide the model and style of your spear or even make it a polearm if you so desire.
Going back to a previous section after deciding on the bows, I had one more purchase to make in the items section.
Supplies

An enchanted quiver that can hold 10x the number of arrows than the size would otherwise suggest. Comes fully stocked. Fired arrows that came from this quiver, so long as they are not destroyed or otherwise made unusable, will rematerialize in your quiver after five minutes.
I was feeling good about all my equipment choices, and now I could spend my excess 6 points on more talents or boons… or I could refund some of the drawbacks… Is my greed worth it? Ghoulish, sprinters, and Variants were already locked in because of the previous document, and they were arguably the most dangerous of the drawbacks. Everything else is more like expediting problems that were going to happen already, only it made it happen sooner… at least that was how I saw it.

x 2
You will have a natural affinity towards picking up martial arts and performing in physical combat. This effect is more notable for any physical combat-related Talents you may have selected.

Fisticuffs. Brawling. Wrestling. Slugging it out. Whatever you want to call it, you have a natural talent for fighting barehanded.
Beyond just a better instinct, you'll excel at being able to knock others unconscious with one savage blow and know how to move your own body reflexively to avoid taking critical damage.

You have a natural affinity for wielding bladed weapons as an extension of yourself.
How to balance the weight, how to swing to strike, how to move to parry, these all come naturally to you.
This will primarily benefit swords the most, but there will be some crossover into other bladed weapons of similar design, however each will have their own learning curve.

You have a natural talent for using a bow or crossbow. While you will still need to practice, finding the right stance and accounting for wind drift for your arrow will feel intuitive to you.

When it comes to matters of academics and learning, you're a natural. You'll have a higher reading comprehension than most and a greater innate memory recall and retention.
The last one seemed like it would help in any category, so it was probably the most underrated of the selections that I made. Probably worth more than I was initially giving it credit for. Either way, I was out of points. There was one more section though before I could finalize this particular document.
Here is a list of unique missions and accomplishments you can achieve which will permit you to eventually start Another Adventure, or perhaps to gain special rewards.
Should you survive 10 Years beyond the canonical start of the story you can open a one-time portal for one minute to any fictional world of your choosing. No entity or person will be able to sense, track or otherwise detect this portal.
Anyone who crosses over will be de-aged to their teenage years. You will lose any Drawbacks you've taken from this CYOA and have a fresh start in life. No infection or zombie virus will crossover with you.
Any technology taken with you that isn't from this CYOA may no longer function correctly if the rules that govern the chosen setting are incompatible.
Should you finish 7 Missions before the 10 Year time limit you can fill out any CYOA created by this author when you trigger Another Adventure.
Your world choice will be determined by that CYOA where relevant, and cannot be the same world you've previously visited with Another Adventure.
Any mission completed beyond the initial 7 removes one year from your timer.

As some missions require you to locate individuals you may not know anything about, you will be given a unique compass that you can recall to your pocket if ever lost. Unlike a normal compass it will only point you in the direction of mission-specific characters, and only until the related missions are complete.

Instead of a compass you can instead choose to have a Mission Tracker app on your smart phone which will serve the same purpose and provide additional detailed information and a log counter for your convenience.
Okay, so I needed to select at least 7 missions in order to go to a different world possibly, and they seemed to come with rewards that were currently hidden. I needed to focus on what should be possible for me without having any knowledge of the story.

If you select this Mission, sometime shortly after the outbreak you will encounter a young child no older than 10. They will be alone and in grave danger. You will have an opportunity to rescue them.
Save and protect them until they are old enough to fend for themselves, or place them in a safe, secure location with a new family or caregiver.
This mission is unique as I won’t have to worry about not encountering the person, the mission will arrange it. Other missions really depended on knowledge of the characters, of which I had none.

Personally slay 666 zombies. Kills done through explosives can only count up to 10 for this specific counter.

Have at least four members of your squad personally slay 666 zombies. Kills done through explosives can only count up to 10 for this specific counter.

Personally slay 100 humans. Kills done through explosives can only count up to 10 for this specific counter.

Personally slay 100 zombies by headshot with a firearm or other range weapon.

Personally slay 100 zombies through use of a bladed weapon.
This mission is repeatable four times with each type of relevant Talents:
• Blades • Axes • Spears • Thrown Weapons
Note: While repeatable, completing this mission will only count once towards your mission counter.

Personally slay 100 zombies through use of blunt melee weaponry.

Personally slay 100 zombies by usage of explosives and fire. Only a maximum of 10 kills from a single explosion count.

Personally slay 100 zombies by usage of unconventional weapons - such as a chainsaw.
It was a zombie apocalypse, so there shouldn’t be a shortage of zombies to kill, so all of the kill count missions seemed an easy pick. I ended up choosing more missions than I needed, greedy for the hidden rewards. But not knowing what the rewards would be, I didn’t want to take risks for any other missions, that had factors that I couldn’t control at all. I was considereing canceling, the childcare mission, but I decided it shouldn’t be too difficult given all the gear I had. In the end, I chose to finalize this document.
Note: You will be able to intuitively keep track of the number that corresponds to the relevant Mission that involve achieving X number.
Mission Rewards marked as Persistent will carry-over into your next adventure.
Your journey begins.
The screen in front of me faded, and I found myself falling from the sky, but for some reason I felt exceptionally calm. Perhaps it was the fact that I was translucent, and didn’t feel any wind, I didn’t feel any fear of impact. Not to mention that I didn’t have a fear of heights to begin with.
And as I was falling, It occured to me that I hadn’t finalized the other document. As that thought occurred to me, abruptly, my fall stopped, and the world turned gray.
“Error was noted. Please continue selection.”
A disembodied voice intoned. And just like that, I had the other document in front of me again.
But after all the things that I had purchased, there weren’t many things that would be immediately beneficial aside from stats. So I chose to spend all my 20 points on 2 more stat points. The question was, did I want to continue focusing on stamina, or should I focus on something else? Considering that I would have to deal with sprinters, and that I would be thrown into danger, I really couldn’t prioritize my training, and I would need the ability to escape danger safely. So speed was king. I could always increase my other stats after earning some more points, so it wasn’t like a permanent problem.
5 -> 7
As I finished spending my points, I returned to falling. I took a moment as I fell to survey the surroundings, I probably had about 30 seconds to get an idea for the layout of the city before I hit the ground. But most things were barely visible, and at best it gave me an idea of the general street layout. I wasn’t too concerned given that I would have gps in the vehicle. Looking around, I noticed that the RV was falling with me, as were a few of the things that I had bought. A quick glimpse at myself confirmed that I was wearing the anti zombie armor, and the clothes and vest beneath it. There was an M4 on my back, and a 1911 strapped to my hip. Fumbling around on the pockets, I quickly found the bottle of pills, but I waited to open it. It would suck to lose them while falling trying to open it up. But I held it tightly so that I could open it up and pop it in my mouth quickly when I landed.
Everything else was tied up on the roof of the RV. I wondered where the sword was, and as I thought about it, it seperated from the crate, and flew towards me. A close range weapon would be good, but I didn’t have any experience the a sword. As I thought about that, it drifted back to the RV. Deciding that the bayonet on my M4 was good enough for close range, I moved the M4 into a low ready stance, and the straps seemed to loosen on their own, to help with that. I could only assume that these magical effects were only temporary, as I was still in the process of dropping in.
30 seconds passed in a blink of an eye, and I barely had time to finish all these observations as I passed through the roof of the building. The RV seperated from me and seemed to float towards the parking lot.
